Pulling Together the Last Bits

There will come a time when you are done with most of the major parts of a game. Everything looks like it can just be quickly pulled together. Just finish up a few assets and add them to the game. Finish up the programming and element placement. Then just code the save/load system and you are done; a few weeks, tops.

Have to create a few more assets.
Re-do some more assets.
Forgot I had to program this thing.
Came across a problem, need to fix it.
Why are these assets taking so long.
Is there an easier project?
Who can help me?
That's future self's problem.
I think this other project might be easier.

Before you know it, you have another unfinished project giving you stress. Sure, sticking with a project is a nice strategy, but how long until you burnout. I'm trying something else. Trying to make all the needed assets for a specific area/mechanic is very time consuming. Adding just one is much easier.

Add an asset, finish some code, fix a bug. Staying on a single task is boring, and you need to complete something to feel like there is progress. Don't try completing every asset for an area, just one. It takes less time and adding it feels good. Program a minor mechanic to feel like you are adding something, and prep a few things needed for bigger scripts/mechanics.

Work in a way that has steady accomplishments. Adding assets singly may take extra import time, but the accomplishment feels nice. Now there is something new to show in far less time. Finishing or adding mechanics is good. Finish the small things and add to the bigger things. In this way there is something new every day, and there should be less burnout.

Also Little One has  energy, health, and master storage containers in the build.
